I saw an FJ Cruiser today in traffic, and it made me sad to remember the car is on death row. Such a cool little SUV.

The lady who cuts my hair just picked one up. A dark green Trail Team edition in dark green...WITH A STICK. It's so damn cool.

I've ridden in one. Very cool trucks, but forward and side visibility are best described as "limited", while rear visibility is best described as "nonexistent".

I really liked them. If I were to get an SUV they'd be on the list.

THIS. I test drove one of these when shopping for a car. It was everything I wanted except that massive B-pillar created a blind-spot the size of Texas that I decided I could not live with. Decided to buy a Wrangler instead.

You and about half a million other people,

Yeah the Wrangler is pretty much the FJ's problem. It does everything the FJ does, but it's smaller, cheaper, more versatile and has a better aftermarket.

Now that's a hairdressers car if I've ever seen one.

It is when it's driving next to an H2.

Ironically, her car before the FJ was a 2004 MR2 Spyder. She literally told me she felt that she was furthering the "girly, hairdresser" stereotype by driving that car every day and that's one of the reasons she traded it in haha

That is all true. But before test driving, I actually put the FJ ahead of the Wrangler on my list because it seemed like a more practical car (more cargo room, Toyota reliability, etc.). I have to say that sadly the B-pillar was the deal breaker. I almost hit biker during the test drive because that blind-spot was so big.

Wow, is she a certified Jalop or just a bit more car conscious than most?

Yeah, the B-pillar on anything with suicide doors is going to be huge.

Very car conscious and I'm slowly turning her into a Jalop haha

I would have bought a white on white trail team edition back in 09 if I didn't have to pay a 10k mark-up to get a manual from the factory. So instead I decided it's best to have a completely unreliable, auto-tragic but much better looking (with better visibility) Disco II. Into which I have probably dumped the same amount (around 30-35k over the last 8 years of ownership) that I would have paid for the FJ. (Had a decent trade in and cash up front)

And now knowing what I know about off-roading, locking diffs > limited slip independent front and rear suspension

I saw one today just like this. They are a good looking rig in blue. Some cars you just need to get in the stereotypical color. The FJ Cruiser is one of them.
